FAQS

  • Karindy sees patients from the office of Pure Chiropractic, located inside Bayou City Breastfeeding Katy Office. The address is:

Pure Chiropractic at Bayou City Breastfeeding

    26077 Nelson Way, #601, Katy, TX 77494

The sign out front on the building will say “Bayou City Breastfeeding” and is located on the south side of the office complex.

  • 6 months - 64 years of age.

For infants under 6 months of age, I require that they first work with an IBCLC. I will partner alongside IBCLCs for oral motor coordination concerns but I prefer that a mother and baby work with an IBCLC initially as they are specialized in this population and treat the dyad (mother and baby) in a highly effective way. Once the infant is transitioning to solids, then it is timely to incorporate therapy with me to address concerns with feeding and swallowing.

For adults over the age of 65, I am not able to provide therapy services since I am not a Medicare Certified provider.

  • This question is completely dependent on what is being targeted during the session. Play is always the basis of therapy for children, and Karindy likes to make therapy as fun as possible for adults too. Myofunctional therapy often utilizes food-based exercises (e.g., moving a piece of cereal to a specific point on the tongue/palate) so feel free to bring snacks and foods that the patient prefers. Karindy utilizes a lot of sensory stimulation techniques to make the input novel and stimulation to the brain so that it is more easily learned and repeated. These techniques include but are not limited to: vibration, temperature, whole-body paired movements, music, visual demonstrations, and sometimes the use of “biohacking” tools (red light, HapBee, Apollo, BrainTap, etc).

  • Karindy is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who specializes in working with patients who have oral motor concerns, orofacial myofunctional disorders, feeding and swallowing concerns. She is sought out for her ability to piece together underlying root issues related to symptoms and concerns. Karindy has extensive experience and background working with brain injury, spinal cord injury, rare and complex medical diseases. Rather than viewing symptoms or concerns as isolated and individual issues, Karindy approaches treatment from a holistic, whole-body view and looks at how connections and interactions in the body play a role in the behavior/issue targeted.

  • While Karindy has great skills, training and experience, she is not the right fit for everyone. She is not a great fit for anyone who thinks that holistic and functional medicine approaches are silly or ridiculous. There are plenty of other providers who share that view, so please see them instead. Karindy believes that each patient has inherent worth, wisdom, and value and is not trying to “fix” anyone; instead, she focuses on helping each patient shift into their full potential so that they can live healthy, vibrant lives and it is a team dynamic between the patient family and the provider.

  • At this time, Karindy is only offering telemedicine appointments for patients who are already on her caseload and given specific circumstances. A part of the benefit of working with Karindy as opposed to other providers is her physical approach that includes, but is not limited to, the incorporation of whole body movements, CFT (craniosacral fascial therapy), and biofeedback tools. For this reason, if you are seeking telemedicine appointments, I highly recommend you consider reaching out to the following providers:

  • There is no set number of sessions that are prescribed to prepare for a tongue tie release, but it is common for people to require between 8-12 sessions before they are ready to schedule their tongue tie release. Following a tongue tie release, it is recommended that patients follow-up intermittently for 6 weeks following the release. The frequency will be dependent on patient-specific factors (age, inflammation, co-existing diagnoses). Please note that if you are planning on having a tongue tie release, you will also need to receive body-work from a Chiropractor, CST/CFT therapist, or Osteopath.

  • While I do provide craniosacral fascia therapy (CFT), I prefer to have another body-worker on the team if someone is working towards a tongue tie release. I believe there is a benefit to having a team of providers who have different perspectives on the body before something that can be as powerful as a tongue tie release. There are times that I will incorporate CFT into sessions when we are doing myofunctional therapy focused work, and times that I will incorporate myofunctional concepts into CFT, but I prefer to work alongside a Chiropractor/Osteopath/Body-Worker before tongue tie releases whenever possible as I have found that the dynamic leads to the best results.

  • Myofunctional therapy is a specialized program that focuses on correcting improper muscle function and habits involving the tongue, lips, jaw, and face. It supports breathing, swallowing, speech, and oral rest posture.

  • Common concerns include:

    • Mouth breathing

    • Tongue thrust

    • Tethered oral tissues (tongue/lip ties)

    • Orthodontic relapse

    • Sleep-disordered breathing

    • Speech or articulation challenges

    • Feeding difficulties

  • While both can support oral function, myofunctional therapy targets muscle coordination and functional patterns (like nasal breathing and tongue posture), whereas speech therapy focuses on articulation, language, and communication skills. Karindy treats all of these issues as they overlap but the primary focus of her practice is no longer just on language processing or fluency (e.g., syntax and grammar) and she recommends the following clinics for language treatment:
